• Where the ball meets the blade is decided as you start the swing: the middle, the toe, the shoulder or an edge.
• Off the middle it flies; off the toe the bat twists in your hands; off an edge it goes where the edge sends it.
• Pads, bodies, fielders and umpires all stop the ball. The computer's batters bat by the same rules.
